Classic boats are my weakness. When I see a sad neglected yacht with pedigree, I just can't help myself, I need to bring it back to its rightful state. My need to fix old boats has driven me to learn some of the coolest woodworking techniques. In restoring an old Herreshoff Eagle, I made my own wooden hoops and tackle blocks.
I couldnt find the right blocks for a pocket yacht I was restoring, so I made them myself out of white oak, with bronze internals - featuring British penny side plates.
I built this kayak in the living room of my apartment in Oakland, CA.
Parts for a Herreshoff Eagle I restored.
